Glasgow based folk trio ‘Assynt’ are inspired by the great piping, fiddle and Gaelic traditions of the Highlands of Scotland, The band, made up of award-winning musicians, are described as “refreshingly contemporary” by Folk Radio UK while remaining true to the music traditions they are rooted in. Assynt’s debut album The Road to the North was released in 2018 and in the same year were awarded Up and Coming Artist of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. Building on their acclaimed debut album, the band’s second studio release Where From Here is due at the end of 2022. The band have performed at venues throughout the UK with highlights including Belladrum, Celtic Connections and Piping Live.
